Our DCS Safe School Plan 2020-2021 has been updated to reflect the changes in the Sun West School Division's masking policies. Our plan can be found on our webpage.
The following letter was sent to all Sun West families:
Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,
The Saskatchewan Government made the following announcement on November 25th as a part of their COVID-19 control measures:
Mandatory, non-medical masking will be extended to:
Our guidelines are the following:
The Government’s exceptions to the masking measures were limited to when consuming food or beverage or when engaged in aquatic fitness activities. Sun West School Division will continue to have the following two additional exceptions first introduced on November 23rd:
The Sun West School Division staff are also expected to:
Please be assured the Sun West School Division’s pandemic response plan is continuously reviewed in the best interests of safety for students and staff.

Good afternoon Parents and Caregivers,
The Saskatchewan Government made the following announcement on November 25th as a part of their COVID-19 control measures:
Mandatory, non-medical masking will be extended to:
- All students, employees and visitors in all schools and day cares (except while consuming food or beverage or engaging in aquatic fitness activities).
- Children ages 0-2 years are exempt from wearing masks.
- Children ages 3-12 should wear a mask if they are able to.
Our guidelines are the following:
-
PreK to grade 12 students will wear approved masks properly:
- when they are on busses; and
- when they are inside the school.
- All staff will wear masks properly when they are in schools unless they are alone in their workspace.
The Government’s exceptions to the masking measures were limited to when consuming food or beverage or when engaged in aquatic fitness activities. Sun West School Division will continue to have the following two additional exceptions first introduced on November 23rd:
- Mask breaks may be provided at the discretion of the teachers if students are physically distanced.
- Masks may be removed outside at the discretion of the supervisors if students are physically distanced.
The Sun West School Division staff are also expected to:
- Model safe COVID-19 protocols.
- Plan COVID-19 safe activities for students as a part of their instruction.
- Monitor and manage the physical distancing of all students.
- Monitor and manage safe and effective hand washing and sanitizing.
Please be assured the Sun West School Division’s pandemic response plan is continuously reviewed in the best interests of safety for students and staff.
