Accessing Microsoft at Home

Students using school devices at home (iPads, laptops) must first set up the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This security features prevents the student account from being hacked. This additional verification has been added to ensure safety.

To set up the MFA for use at home, the student account must be linked to a phone OR to the MFA app.

Once the account is linked, each time the student logs in from home, Microsoft will automatically send an authorization code to the connected cell phone OR app. Students will enter their username and password to access features such as email, One Drive, One Note and Teams.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

MFA provides a secondary means of verifying your identity, such as a text message or notification on your mobile device, when accessing your email account when you are at home or on the road.

How Can I Set up the Authentication at Home?

Use the links below to set up the authentication through either the MFA app OR through a cell phone number.
The Sun West IT Department recommends using the app, however, text message or phone calls work fine too.

Setting Up MFA on the APP

If you choose the app, it is useful to install the application on your phone or tablet before starting the process.  The app will require access to your device’s camera as well as permission to display notifications, so please do not block these if you are asked.
