Throughout the year, DCS hosts a number of special events. See our yearly calendar for more information. 


TERRY FOX RUN

Each September, DCS students and staff participate in the annual Terry Fox Run. Students collect pledges to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation. 


CHRISTMAS BANQUET

One of the highlights of our school year is the annual Christmas banquet. This traditiona dates back to 40+ years ago when high school students had a banquet. Now our entire school population is joined by special guests. 


12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Each year, our SRC does a fantastic job of planning lots of noon-hour activities for our students in the weeks leading up to the Christmas break. We decorate gingerbread houses, make ornaments, get pictures with Santa, decorate the teachers, and much more! 


HIGH SCHOOL BONSPIEL

For 58 years, DCS has hosted a high school bonspiel! We are grateful to the generous donations from our community that helps makes this a memorable event each year. The 2020 winners were: Troy Banks, Abby Friesen, Megan Reiber, Darling McNeely.


ONE SCHOOL, ONE BOOK

Thanks to generous support of our SCC, our school is able to participate in the One School, One Book literacy initiative. Each K-6 family receives a book and we read together as a school during one month each spring. 


TELEMIRACLE WEEK

DCS is a proud supporter of Telemircle. Each year, students participate in various fund-raising events to support this worthwhile cause including our annual skate-a-thon. 


PUBLIC SPEAKING K-6

Elementary school students have a chance to hone their public speaking skills at our annual Public Speaking event. Various community judges help make this event so successful!


HALLOWEEN -
Parade and Food Bank Drive

Each year, students in K-12 participate in a Halloween parade for our community. We always have tremendous support for our food bank drive!


GRADES 5-12 SKI TRIP 

In March, students in Grades 5-12 travel to Table Mountain for a day of fun at the ski hill!


ELEMENTARY TRACK MEET

Our Grades K-6 track meet is an opportunity for all students to participate in a track and field event at the schooll. We host numerous races, throwing, and other events. 


GRADE 12 PROM
Traditionally, DCS hosts a spring grad at the school. Due to COVID-19, our plans have been changed this year. More information to follow!

KINDERGARTEN GRADUATION

Traditionally, DCS hosts a Kindergarten graduation assesmbly at the school. Due to COVID-19, our assembly was cancelled.
